Latoria Hicks
Director. Cinematographer. Editor.

I create films that explore the intersecting identities that create the self. My work draws on my memories growing up as a Black woman in the American South to paint multifaceted portraits of characters who find themselves on the outskirts of the world. By examining how different identities can form a unique experience, I search for how they also form similar experiences that shape who we are. Through my films, I aim to build a sense of interconnectedness between people and expand the amount of empathy we have for one another.
